23rd March saw the launch of the British Touring Car Championship entrants for 2016 in a 4-hour long test session at Donington Park. So what did we learn?
Well, although a lot can change before the start of the season, we can be sure that another close year is in store, with the top 17 (of the 25 who set a time) separated by less than a second.
Right from the get-go, at the short, speedy Brands Hatch indy circuit we can expect a full grid, 32 entrants strong.
Jason Plato and Colin Turkington fail to show on track. Are Team BMR keeping their cards close to their chest, or do they simply need more time to get the Subaru ready for the season?
Michael Epps, Kelvin Fletcher and Stuart Lines also failed to record a time.
The champion’s card last year, the Honda Civic, snatched the fastest time at the end of the session, but only just. Matt Neal went 0.003 seconds faster than new boy, Ashley Sutton. Rob Austin third. Andrew Jordan and the reigning champion, Gordon Shedden, finished outside the top 10.
Tom Ingram and Hunter Abbott both bring out red flags for separate mechanical failures.
The season opener takes place at Brands Hatch on the weekend of the 2nd/3rd April. Full coverage on ITV4.
